(Saint John, NB) The UNB Saint John Seawolves fell to the St. Thomas University Tommies 71-61 in ACAA Men's Basketball action.
STU built an early lead, outscoring UNBSJ 43-27 in the first half, thanks to standout performances from Evan Valanne (24 points, 7 rebounds) and Noah McCarthy (21 points, 4 rebounds). The Tommies shot 35.3% from the field but capitalized on second-chance points (14) and a strong free-throw performance (88.2%).
UNBSJ rallied in the second half, led by Ethan Szemerda's double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) and Jack Fury-Miller's 10 points and 11 boards. However, the Seawolves' struggles from three-point range (8/33) and free throws (55.6%) hindered their comeback.
Despite a strong bench contribution (20 points), UNBSJ couldn't close the gap. The Seawolves fall to 8-6, while the Tommies improve to 5-7.
