Local defender signs with Seawolves men’s soccer
(Saint John, NB) Marc-Andre Lagace has officially signed with Seawolves men's soccer for the 2025 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) season.
Joining the team from Saint John, New Brunswick, Lagace brings his grit and competitiveness to the team. "He has a great understanding of the game and loves to get forward at the right opportunities and can help the team in attack," said head coach PJ Ward about the addition of Lagace.
Soccer has been a constant part of Lagace's life from a young age. "It's a way to spend time with friends, make new ones, and maintain my fitness. It also fuels my competitive nature and my determination to be the best player I can be," he said.
In 2021-22 season, his school team achieved a significant milestone by reaching the AA provincial final for school soccer. The following year, they advanced to the AAA final, becoming the first single-A-sized team in any discipline in New Brunswick to reach such a level in their first year in the league. Lagace has had leadership roles as the captain of the Saint John Soccer Club's U15 and U17 premiership teams, as well as the University Prep Program captain and his school soccer team captain.
In addition to his soccer career, Lagace has a passion for coaching "I currently coach with the Saint John Soccer Club year-round and have been doing so for a few years now. I coach at the grassroot level, and from this, I have learned to love my sport even more and have learned quite a few skills that will help me down the road in education," he said.
Lagace plans to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree. His future aspirations include becoming either an elementary school teacher or a lawyer.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Marc-Andre!
