Pereira signs with Seawolves soccer
(Saint John, NB) Keanu Pereira has officially signed with the UNB Saint John Seawolves men's soccer team for the 2025 varsity season.
Pereira is a graduate of Monsignor Doyle Catholic Secondary School in Cambridge, Ontario, where he maintained a 3.9 GPA and was on the Honour Roll. He was a three-time varsity soccer MVP and served as All-region captain of his varsity team. He was ranked among the top 100 Canadian graduates for 2025 four times, with his highest ranking being # 3. Currently, he is the starting center-back for Guelph United League 1 Reserves.
Head coach PJ Ward discovered Pereira at the Umbro Showcase and FTF. He praised Pereira, saying, "He is a leader in the backline and likes to use his voice to control the defensive aspect of the game."
"Playing at the collegiate level has been my greatest dream, and I see it as an opportunity to not just grow as an athlete but also as an individual," said Pereira.
Outside of soccer, you can find Pereira running, playing basketball, and spending time with family and friends. He also dedicates his time at a CrossFit gym, helping teach youth soccer players how to train safely and optimally. "I learned how to be a better leader and mentor. I took the position to help teach young athletes the importance of fitness," he said.
Pereira will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in the fall, with plans to become a veterinarian and have his own practice.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Keanu!
