(Saint John, NB) The UNBSJ Seawolves played an intense and hard-fought men's match Saturday, finishing with a 2–2 draw against the visiting MSVU Mystics. The windy conditions added an extra challenge for both sides, making ball control and passing more difficult throughout the game.
UNBSJ got off to a strong start with an early goal from Shadrack Shogonya in the ninth minute, giving the Seawolves momentum through the first half. Both teams had chances, including key saves from UNBSJ's Landon Gray and MSVU's Tristan Brocklehurst, but the sides went into halftime with UNBSJ leading 1–0.
MSVU responded quickly after the break, leveling the score through Muhammed Hamo in the 47th minute and taking the lead just minutes later with Cooper McVicar-Smith's strike. UNBSJ continued to press, earning multiple corners and testing the Mystics' defense, before finally equalizing late in the match with a header from Aidan Marcantonio.
The match was marked by physical play, back-and-forth intensity, and several near misses on both ends. Both teams walk away with a hard-earned point, leaving the Seawolves at 6-4-2 and the Mystics at 4-5-2 as the season continues to tighten.
