(Saint John, NB) The UNB Saint John Seawolves hosted the St. Thomas University Tommies in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Women's Basketball action on Saturday, falling 64-48 despite a late rally.
The Tommies dominated early, leading 21-8 after the first quarter and 36-20 at halftime. Charlee Connors paced STU with 22 points, while Claudia Steeves added 10 off the bench. The Tommies controlled the boards (43-33) and capitalized on second-chance points throughout the game.
The Seawolves found their stride in the fourth quarter, outscoring STU 21-11. Avrey Alward led UNBSJ with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Ainsley Green contributed 10 points and 7 boards. However, UNBSJ's struggles from three-point range (1/18) proved costly.
The Seawolves fall to 2-12, while the Tommies improve to 6-6. UNBSJ looks to rebound in their next matchup.
