(Saint John, NB) The opening weekend of Seawolves basketball marked the 25th annual Kingston Cup, celebrating the rivalry between UNB Saint John Seawolves and the Mount Allison Mounties. This event showcased the basketball talent of these two New Brunswick teams competing for the handcrafted cup.
The Seawolves put up a good fight but utimately fell 66-42 against the Mounties. The UNBSJ Saint John Seawolves stayed competitive through the first two quarters. Maddie Baker led the team with eight points, earning recognition as player of the game.
For their opponent, the Mounties, Emma Roberts made a significant impact by scoring 14 points. MTA had a cohesive team effort and strong defence to keep, which kept the Seawolves from catching up and secured their 66-42 victory.
The Seawolves are eager to bounce back as they continue their homestand on Sunday, November 3 at 1 p.m.
