Green Named First Team All-Conference
(Halifax, NS) Day one of the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association’s Basketball Championships begin tomorrow, but the league’s attention on Thursday night turned to the Rosaria Centre on Mount Saint Vincent University campus for the annual awards banquet.
The ACAA announced their 1st Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Conference, Rookie of the Year, Dyrick McDermott Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Player of the Year. As the emcee began reading the names of the 1st Team All-Conference and the third name on the list was University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves forward, Ainsley Green. The 3rd year Seawolves forward flourished this season, leading the ACAA in scoring at 14.6 points per game, and second in rebounds with 11.2 per game. She was one of two players in the league to average a double-double. Green took her game to a new level from her 2024-25 season, as she almost doubled her point and rebounding numbers from that season this year.
“Ainsley has developed into a talented, physical player and her performance on the floor and her numbers on the stat sheets show that she deserves the recognition,” said Seawolves head coach, Moira Gagnon. “What she did to achieve this was an incredible investment of time and effort on her basketball skills and her physical strength, through both the offseason and regular season. Our team has also benefited from the intensity she brings on the court and her strong desire to succeed. We are so proud that Ainsley has been selected to the First Team All-Conference.”
With her All-Conference award, Green becomes the first Seawolves women’s basketball athlete to make an All-Conference Team in 12 years, and first 1st Team All-Conference player in 21 years.
The Seawolves enter the Championship as the 5th seed and will face the Holland College Hurricanes in the second game of the tournament at 3:00pm Friday, March 5. If you are unable to make it to the A. Garnet Brown Gymnasium you can watch the games on acaa.tv.
