Karns signs with Seawolves soccer
(Saint John, NB) Lily Karns joins the Seawolves women's soccer team for the 2025-26 season.
Joining the Seawolves from Calgary, Alberta, Karns has a strong athletic background. As a team captain, Karns led her high school team to a silver medal in 2022, followed by a gold medal at the 2023 Calgary High School City Championship. Her club team achievements include winning gold at the 2022 Alberta Provincial U15, which earned them the opportunity to represent Alberta at the 2022 Soccer Canada Toyota National Championship in Prince Edward Island. The team also secured gold at the 2024 BTB Spring Cup and silver at the 2023 Alberta Provincial Senior Women's Tier 1.
Head coach PJ Ward expressed enthusiam about Karns' joining the team: "She has the ability to adapt to multiple roles, which will be an asset to the team. Her technical ability and calmness on the ball allow her to control the game. She is always striving to be the best version of herself on the pitch."
"Soccer represents integrity, teamwork, perseverance, and respect," Karns said. "Being part of a group of strong women who value the collective success of the team means the world." Outside of soccer, Karns enjoys using her creativity and loves music, taking every opportunity to attend live performances.
Karns will be taking Nursing this fall, with hopes of a career in the health industry. For the upcoming season, she aims to be a reliable teammate. "I'm committed to supporting and uplifting my teammates and to foster a positive team culture," she said.
A strong influence in Karns' life is her mother. "She is loyal to her friends and family and remains active and fierce on the soccer pitch for her own team, the Vixens," Karns shared.
