Kelowna’s Maddy Landgraff Brings High Soccer IQ to Seawolves Midfield
(Saint John, NB) The University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves women’s soccer program is proud to announce the commitment of Maddy Landgraff, a composed and intelligent midfielder from Kelowna, British Columbia, who brings leadership, drive to win, and a strong understanding of the game to the Seawolves lineup. A graduate of Kelowna Secondary School, Landgraff arrives in Saint John with a reputation as a player who consistently impacts the game through decision-making, movement, and composure under pressure.
Landgraff was identified through connections within the program’s British Columbia recruiting pipeline, and her profile quickly stood out to the Seawolves coaching staff. Her ability to read the game and influence play without the ball made an immediate impression, highlighting a player whose strengths extend beyond the stat sheet. “Maddy constantly scans for the next pass and reads the game with a high level of soccer intelligence,” said the Seawolves coaching staff. “Her movement is relentless and purposeful, always finding pockets of space and offering support to teammates in possession. She brings a high soccer IQ and strong technical ability that will help elevate the team in key areas. She has the ability to break up play anywhere and consistently supports her teammates, providing stability and smart decision-making under pressure.”
Throughout her career, Landgraff has demonstrated strong leadership qualities, serving as captain for both her school and club teams over the past two seasons. She has also been selected to attend the British Columbia Provincial ID Program, further showcasing her ability to compete at a high level. Off the field, she has balanced athletics with a demanding academic workload, enrolling in four Advanced Placement courses while maintaining strong academic standing. For Landgraff, soccer has always been more than just competition. It serves as both an outlet and a space for growth, allowing her to push herself physically and mentally while building meaningful relationships through the game. Her passion is rooted in the connection she feels with her teammates and the focus she brings each time she steps onto the pitch.
“I chose UNB Saint John because of the environment and the people,” Landgraff said. “Moving across the country is a big step, but I really liked the idea of a smaller campus and a close-knit team. Hearing from past teammates about the culture and academics made the decision easier, and I felt like it was the right place for me to grow as both a player and a person.” Landgraff will enroll in the Bachelor of Biology program, with plans to continue into a Master’s in Physiotherapy as she works toward a future career as a physiotherapist. On the field, her goals are centred on becoming a more consistent and dependable player while continuing to refine the details of her game, including her speed of play, first touch, and tactical awareness. With her leadership, composure, and high-level understanding of the game, Maddy Landgraff adds stability and intelligence to the Seawolves' midfield and is poised to make a huge impact at the next level.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Maddy.
