Women's soccer adds Norah Oickle to 2025 roster
(Saint John, NB) The UNB Saint John Seawolves women's soccer program is thrilled to announce the addition of Norah Oickle to the 2025-26 roster.
"Oickle will bring a hunger and desire to score goals. She is fast and eager to learn and improve, and her movement off the ball is impressive," said head coach PJ Ward.
Joining the program from Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Oickle already has connections on the team and looks forward to studying for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with hopes of becoming a travel nurse. "Having a past teammate and friend currently on the team made the decision even more meaningful, as it added a sense of familiarity and support," Oickle said about her decision to join the team.
Since the age of three, she has been a multi-sport athlete, showcasing her dedication and skills. She played on co-ed and boys' teams until 2023 with the Queens County Pirates, then transitioned to South Shore United Football Club. She was part of the U18AA during summer and winter seasons and eventually played for U17AAA team for the summer. Currently, Oickle plays for the U18AA team, notably capturing second place in the U18AA category of the indoor soccer league during the 2023-24 season.
She has consistently excelled in sports and academics, recognized as the Ron O'Flaherty Scholar-Athlete for 2020-21, a prestigious honour only awarded to three students in Nova Scotia. She was named Athlete of the Year in grade eight and received MVP titles across multiple sports, including soccer, volleyball, badminton, and basketball. Her athletic prowess contributed to her teams' success, such as winning regional championships in soccer. Academically, she has maintained high honours, achieving first-class honours in grade ten and currently in grade twelve, while studying in French immersion.
Oickle looks to continually improve her skills and push herself to news levels in the upcoming season.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Norah!
