McCord signs with women’s volleyball squad
(Saint John, NB) Seawolves women's volleyball is making another addition to their 2025-26 roster, with the signing of Kyra McCord from Calgary, Alberta.
"Kyra's experience with running a quick offense will allow her to mesh quickly with our hitters and the pace they have come to expect at this level, hopefully allowing her to contribute in a meaningful way right from the start," said head coach Colin Chambers. Her defensive skills will offer flexibility in the back row, and her energy is sure to be a spark on our already highly motivated team," Chambers added.
McCord's skillset is evident as she began playing club volleyball at the age of 14, starting with Dome Defenders and then playing with TSA West in her U15 year, eventually moving up to Canada West for U17 and U18. Her accolades include the MVP award in her Grade 10 season on the junior team and the Heart and Hustle award in her Grade 11 season on the senior team.
"Volleyball has had an incredible impact on my life, and it continues to teach me about hard work, resilience, gratitude and teamwork," said McCord.
When she's not playing volleyball, you'll find her camping, biking, paddle boarding, working on art, reading or baking.
She developed a passion for environmental efforts in high school through her natural resources class, creating safe spaces for plants and animals, tending to the outdoor garden, and raising awareness throughout the school. McCord will be pursuing a Marine Biology – Bachelor of Science Degree in the fall.
Her personal goal for the season is to improve her performance and skills through training and reps on the court." I set my standards to encourage teamwork, a positive attitude, and the drive to be disciplined and focused," she said.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Kyra!
