UNBSJ Sweeps Dal to Climb Back
(Saint John, NB) UNBSJ delivered a composed and complete performance on Sunday afternoon, sweeping the Dal Rams 3–0 and improving to 4–4 on the season. The Seawolves were sharp offensively in all three sets, hitting over .330 each frame while keeping Dal's attackers under control from start to finish.
The opening set showcased UNBSJ's balance. Left side Adam Gauthier immediately became the focal point, attacking in rhythm and scoring from both the pins and in transition. With Jackson Ramier running a steady, high-tempo offense and finishing with 40 assists, the Seawolves pulled away late to take the first set 25–19 despite early pushes from Dal's George Howe and Orson di Rosa.
UNBSJ dialed things up again in the second set. Their serve pressure and block reads forced Dal into eight hitting errors, and the Rams finished the frame at -.167. Gabe Powell and Jacob Huisman both found their groove in the middle of the floor, combining for seven kills in the set while helping anchor the defensive front. The Seawolves kept full control, winning 25–17.
Dal had their best stretch in the third, staying tight behind Howe's scoring and a small serving run. But UNBSJ had answers for every push. Craig Bartlett put together one of his most efficient games of the year, hitting .500 with eight kills, while Gauthier continued to score in key moments on the left side. The Seawolves closed out the sweep 25–22.
UNBSJ finished with 45 kills on .351 hitting, one of their cleanest offensive outings of the season. Gauthier led with 16 kills on .448 efficiency, Bartlett added eight, and Huisman and Powell chipped in seven each. Ramier's decision-making and the team's stable passing core kept UNBSJ in rhythm throughout the match.
The sweep bumps UNBSJ to 4–4, giving the Seawolves momentum as they push toward the midpoint of the season.
